Wayne Bennett concedes South Sydney have big issues after conceding 50 points to their biggest title rivals twice in the space of 18 days.
Bennett apologised to Dubbo rugby league fans after his side was trounced 56-12 by Penrith on Sunday, Prediksi Togel Hongkong in their biggest ever loss to the Panthers.
It came just two weeks after they were trounced 50-0 by Melbourne, meaning they have been blown out of the water in all three games against top-four sides this year.
Bennett also admitted he refrained from using Benji Marshall because he didn’t want to embarrass him, with Souths down 28-0 after 33 minutes.
But the Rabbitohs had already done that themselves, with Bennett left questioning their attitude after the poor few weeks.
“The bottom line is we’ve played the top two teams in the past three weeks and they’ve both beaten us by 50 points.
“We’ve got some issues.”
“I’m sorry for all the fans here today, because they deserved better than that.”
The Rabbitohs’ horror show also spoiled Latrell Mitchell’s comeback from a four-week ban, with poor ball leaving him with limited chances.
He looked dangerous for a brief period in the second half with Souths on the attack, but they were never really in the contest.
When asked if Mitchell could regain his form and get back to his, Bennett even mused that he wasn’t even confident that the rest of the team could.
At one point a local fan yelled at Marshall on the sideline to get on the field and put some pride back in the jersey.
But Bennett opted against taking the advice, adamant not even his spark would make a difference.
“I wasn’t going to embarrass him,” Bennett said.
“We weren’t defending well and Benji isn’t known as the best defender the game’s ever seen. We just couldn’t stop them.”
